Exclusion, Repair, and Prevention

Some examples of exclusion, repair, and prevention work The Critter Guy provides to residential, commercial, and government properties:

We also handle removal and replacement of attic insulation that has been heavily contaminated by animal feces and urine. Wildlife waste is a rather dangerous biological hazard and it often contains parasites, fungi, viruses, bacteria, and mold. This is very harmful to both humans and their pets. We have a separate page for The Critter Guy's nuisance wildlife waste removal services.

Sometimes, major seal-ups and/or repairs may be necessary because some species such as bats or flying squirrels can gain access through gaps that most builders would not recognize. We can install fences, barriers, and other deterrents as situation and species dictates. Additionally, something as simple as a change in your routine could resolve animal conflicts. We identify these situations and make recommendations whenever possible, which can keep us from needing to fall back to solutions that kill the animals.

Most of our exclusion work comes with a written and signed five-year transferable warranty against wildlife re-entry via areas we excluded.

Contact The Critter Guy and we will be happy to discuss what we can do to solve your wildlife problems!

The Critter Guy installs chimney caps to keep out a variety of animals that can get into your house through uncapped chimneys.

We install door sweeps as well, because unwanted nuisances can easily crawl through the cracks underneath doors.

Before and After

We have sealed unwanted animals out of a wide variety of things. Here you can see just a few of the jobs we've done:

Left: A large space under a deck with some pipes. Right: The same deck, with lattice surrounding the space underneath the deck and a couple of custom doors embedded to allow access.
This deck exclusion was a tricky one. The Critter Guy installed custom doors, because the customer needed to use the area underneath as storage. These doors allow that without letting any nuisance wildlife in.
Left: A damaged gable vent. Right: A repaired gable vent with a wire mesh installed over it.
A raccoon tore through this gable vent, but we repaired it and installed nearly-invisible wire so nothing gets through again.
Left: A torn-up vent. Right: The repaired vent, with a sturdy metal vent cover installed around it.
Mice love to gnaw through plastic vent covers. An impervious metal vent cover keeps them out for good.
Left: A ridge vent with a destroyed plastic ridge vent guard. Right: Another ridge vent, with a metal guard installed.
Plastic ridge vent guards often get torn up. This is a common form of damage that provides a point of entry for bats and other wildlife. The Critter Guy installs specialty metal ridge vent guards to prevent this from happening.
Left: A patio without any protection against groundhogs. Right: Hard-to-dig metal wire has been buried around the building to keep nuisances out.
Home additions, such as this sunroom, often have inadequate foundations. This makes them into a convenient home for groundhogs and skunks. We install heavy-duty grid wire exclusions to keep these kinds of critters out, with a five-year warranty.
Left: A large gap in part of a dormer soffit return. Right: The dormer soffit return, with a piece of metal bent and installed to neatly seal up the hole.
Sometimes dormer soffit returns have holes in them. We patch these holes with heavy-duty metal to keep out nuisance wildlife.
Left: A dormer soffit return with a hole in the back. Right: The dormer soffit return with a metal sheet folded and attached to fit over the hole.
Another dormer soffit return with a small gap that wildlife loves to exploit. Despite how small it is, such a hole usually leads to raccoons in your attic. From the ground, this metal patch is nearly impossible to see.
